FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY

Today I embarked on a new adventure. I joined the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Every week we get a word prompt, with the instructions to just free write for five minutes--no overthinking or editing.

This will be quite a challenge, because writing does not come easy to me. Trying to find the right words to express what I'm trying to say is often an agonizing process that can result in taking hours to write a simple paragraph. That's why this first attempt is so short. I had a case of writer's block.

This week's prompt was the word NOW. I was going to sleep on it, but the thought that NOW is all we can be sure of, this one moment in time, so overwhelmed me that I got out of bed, set my timer, and started writing.

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic was so sudden and unexpected, it turned life upside down for all of us all over the globe. I think we were all shocked out of any sense of complacency, or taking things for granted.

To me the message was loud and clear. Do it now! Don't procrastinate! Tomorrow, or even the next moment, may be too late.

This post is part of the weekly Five Minute Friday link-up.

  1. Welcome to Five Minute Friday! And thank you for your timely reminder.
I sat in my garden this morning and just listened to the birds before I head off to a busy day at work (I care for hospice patients so no lockdown for me) and that bit of God's Now washes and anchors me to face the day ahead.
I haven't written my posit yet but thank you for yours.

  2. Welcome. I have to confess, I did not set a time limit this morning so I may have gone over the time allotted. I like the shortness and simplicity of your blog. I always add too much description and too much detail in mine. I have a really hard time writing a short and simple blog. If you would like to read my blog I am #5 on FMF. ( The one with the photo that turned sideways, for some reason.) Good for you for getting early and having your blog at the top of the list. Terri D

  4. Welcome to Five Minute Friday! This is such a wonderful community...I know you'll feel at home.

Y'all inpired a sonnet. Hope you like it.

This hasn't really changed my life,
    or done much to my thinking;
I still really love my wife,
and there's too little time for drinking.
I put on pant legs one by one
    (trying both was a disaster)
    and still offer awful puns
(of which I am a master!).
    I'm not good at humility,
'cause I'm good at all I do,
    and live in quiet certainty
that when this all is through
    Heavenward I shall be flying
to get tuned with God...He's buying!

  8. Don't procrastinate is a great advice. Because no one truly knows what comes each day. Like this pandemic. And now that everyone has the time at home, yet we are all limited to do what we need to accomplish. It's still not easy. I think it's a great test for how God's family will react at times like these and I pray many will draw near to Him because of their fears, confusion or doubt. Be safe sister and thank you for your kind visit. I haven't been blogging in a while but my prayers never stop. God bless and strengthen you always.
