DOES CLOVER CROWD OUT DANDELIONS?

Last year and the years before that, the grass in our courtyard and around the parking lot was full of dandelion flowers, with a few clover ones interspersed. This spring, however, the balance between them started to shift, and today, much to my surprise, I noticed the dandelions are all gone and have been replaced by a carpet of white clover.

  1. Hi Sandra~ I love clover and I love dandelions, and the bees love them both! This spring, we had tons of dandelions and so I made dandelion jelly with my grands...it was delicious! Enjoy your week! Hugs, Barb

  2. Our dandelions left quite awhile ago, and our yard is also full of white clover. The rabbits love it!

  3. Very interesting! Our dandelions are also gone. Maybe it's the time of year?

  4. I would rather have the clover than the dandelions any day. Great photos

  5. Dandelions were a wonderful fact of life in my first decade of life. My friends and I mastered the skills required for making dandelion necklaces, bracelets, ankle bracelets. when I was 12 we moved to a home heavily shaded by oak and sycamore trees. No dandelions, but we adopted my baby brother and he was a lot more entertaining to me and my friends!

  6. I don't know why my comments seem to be disappearing.. Dandelions are really pretty in their own way but I don't like that they have taken up residence in my lawn. Seems our grass is more weeds than lawn. At least it's green.

  7. I love the belief that dandelion seeds will carry your thoughts and dreams to loved ones when you blow them into the air.

I like them both, so it's fine. -smile- And the little violets which show up, in between them.
