From my window I can see many lush trees, yet the one directly across from me, which looked partly dead, seemed to be the birds' preferred gathering place.
Robins would show up at dusk, and settle in for the night. During the day, a variety of other birds would take their place. Usually ravens, but sometimes starlings, crows, and on occasion, what looked like a turkey buzzard convention.
I write all this in the past tense, because that old tree just got chopped down. I wonder if the birds will feel confused when they show up and it's no longer there.
Poor birds will have to find another favorite tree. I wonder if they cut it down because it was dead...
ReplyDeleteI think it must have been dying, because there were several branches near the top that were bare and haven't had leaves on them for at least a couple of years.
DeleteBirds lost a home but someone scored some firewood. You asked about the teddy bears along the path trough the park. They are put their by locals to cheer up children during lockdown. Its been happening in many countries around the world.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the "bird hotel" go.
ReplyDeleteWhat a process that was but lots of good firewood from it.
Great series of photos.

Aww - it's always sad to see a tree come down, but it looks like it was time.
ReplyDeleteIt was.
DeleteAlways sad to see an old tree go. I know from experience however, that they can be dangerous. A large dead tree fell on our roof, this before we moved into it a year before, and an old tree took the corner off my in-law's house years ago in one of the bad storms they had. Still, I love to sit on our deck under the big old tree that we have, and I find myself looking up into its tall branches, listening to all the birds chirping away, and it's like my nature music video that relaxes me so. At the same time I am wondering how much longer we have it. I shall enjoy it as long as I can. They certainly have to know what they are doing when they take those down don't they?
ReplyDeleteThey do. I think it was partially dead already.
DeletePoor tree! Poor birds!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Sandra!
