Word prompt--LONGING
Five minutes to free-write about it
-------------------------------------------------------
At the moment, what I am most longing for is a change in the weather. I long to be out and about again without fear of slipping on ice or being blown over by the wind.
On the other hand, I am grateful to have a warm apartment to shelter in, food in the pantry and freezer, and a comfortable bed to sleep in.
My heart and prayers go out to the homeless who have to face the elements without any of these basic blessings I too often take for granted. What to me is just a temporary inconvenience can pose life threatening risks to many of them. Thinking of that can quickly put things in their proper perspective.

You are so right! We have a WARM shelter here, and the churches will take turn housing them, but there are too many.
ReplyDeletePraying for those without shelter, both humans and animals 🙏 😢 💔 ❤️
ReplyDeleteIt is -18 Celsius here in Montreal today and is supposed to be -25 tonight.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same. You're so right, we have so much to be thankful for with warm houses!
ReplyDeleteThis post is literally so deep, and it totally makes me feel guilty for complaining about frizzing my hair in the rain when people are actually out there in the cold! Have the most wonderful and warm weekend ever and you should definitely come see the new travel post i just shared at www.melodyjacob.com.

I'm in agreement with Barb. It's all how you look at things. You can always find something to be thankful for if you look for it.
ReplyDeleteI think our biggest blessings are the basics of life. Hope the weather gets better for you soon. We're good here, mild days and cool nights.
ReplyDeletePerspective is so crucial, Sandra. Thanks for that reminder. When I'm longing for what I can't have, it's good to remember how much I already have.
