COLD

-------------------------------------------------------

The big snowstorm we were supposed to get last weekend turned out not to be as big as we expected, and certainly nowhere near as big as what many of those of you living in other states got.

What started as snow turned to sleet, which created an icy mix that made it really hard to shovel off cars and sidewalks or plow off the road.  The frigid temps we've had all week have not helped much at all. What little the strong sun rays managed to melt during the day, soon froze back up at the end of it, creating dangerous little patches of black ice.

It is cold! Brrrrr.

Whereas it has been a frusrating experience for those like me who feel trapped in our homes due to our paranoid fear of slipping and falling, it's been anything but for this little neighbor who discovered the snow in our courtyard was frozen so solid she could go ice skating on it.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus" (NLT).  And this I have managed to be.

I'm feeling very grateful that the power has not gone out, my apartment is cozy and warm, and for friends who have helped dig out my car, pick up my mail, and take me to the store.

  1. I understand being "stuck indoors" because of fear of falling on the ice! Although it can get discouraging, it is always better to do the thing that keeps us safe. Your photos are beautiful.

  2. It's so cold here too - negative 8 this morning! I love seeing the little neighbor. Kids are often better at going with the flow and getting joy out of things like this. We can learn from them.
    Thanks for sharing.

  3. You sure did get some cold, ice, and snow there. I understand about staying in as well. Believe it or not it has been cold in GA too!

  5. Such lovely photos! I understand you’re not going outside for fear of falling. I am not going far for the same reason. Sounds like you have had the experience, like I have. Wishing you a very happy new month.

  6. I love how your community is watching out for you and I'm so glad you are warm and cozy inside.
Wow, that girl is really having fun on the ice right there in front of the house. That's creative.

  7. It was good to hear you have help during this freezing weather. We were cold here also but no snow. We stayed in anyway and I'm so thankful we didn't lose power either. Hope your weather is improving as it is here.

  9. I didn't lose power in my area, thankfully. But many here in Montreal did for a few days.
I response to your question on my blog, I am still having issues with coughing and swallowing. I had one test done last month and I have an appointment for a second test on March 12th.
When I get news of what the results of these tests reveal I will make an update post on my blog.
Thank you so much for your prayers 🙏 and concern. ♥️

  10. Hi dear friend, in response to your question I have never worked as a nurse before my retirement. I did work in a pet supply store from 1987 to 1996, first as a clerk in customer service, and the last 7 years as a manager. We did not sell animals, only the supplies because back then there were puppy mills.
I encouraged my customers to get a rescue and save a life either at the SPCA or other animal shelter and come to me to buy their supplies. They sure did.

    1. There are still puppy mills today, sadly, but fortunately many places are working hard to crack down on the cruelty and shut down these operations.
