NOISE

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why
the unease within me? Put your hope in
God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior
and my God. (Psalm 43:5, BSB)

Word prompt--NOISE
Five minutes to free-write about it

Noise isn't always a loud sound you and everyone around you can hear with your ears. Sometimes it's something going on in your head that only you can hear.
That's the kind of noise this post is about.

There has been a lot of noise going on in my head lately. Ever since my fall on Christmas Day, actually.
Many fears and what ifs, going round and round.
A fierce battle is raging on the battleground between my two ears.

The only way I have been able to silence it is by replacing it with a louder noise.
The noise Psalm 100:1 tells us to make -- a joyful noise unto the Lord.
The Lord inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).
The joy of the Lord is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

My health may fail, and my spirit grow weak, but God remains the strength
of my heart and my portion forever (Psalm 73:26).
The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart,
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of
   thanksgiving (psalm 28:7).

Rejoice not over me, O my enemy,
when I fall, I shall rise,
when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me (Micah 7:8).

Loving this song by Jon Reddick, entitled No Fear.
I had never heard it before.
It was very timely.

  1. It's so easy for worries and fears to take over our minds, but what a beautiful reminder that we can drown them out with a joyful noise unto the Lord! Praise is such a powerful weapon against anxiety, and your chosen verses speak so much hope. Thank you for sharing your heart. May His strength continue to uphold you.

    Love and blessings, Sandra.

  2. Stress and worries can certainly fill our heads! I too go to the Psalms when I'm feeling like that. There are so many verses that speak to me there. I like the way you said it's a louder noise!
    That's a really good song!

  3. I've never heard this song. At our age, a fall is a major thing. Even a near fall is scary. I'm sorry you are still struggling, but I would be, too.

  4. I am so sorry that you had this fall and thankful that you did not break a bone. I experienced a similar situation when I was in my 30' and even though I was young, I had all kinds of noises going on and I couldn't keep my my clear. There was a little book that I had found "Pulling down Strongholds" by John Olsteen.. I must have read this book a thousand times. It taught me to get rid of all those what if's in my head. Singing unto the Lord and reading scripture is wonderful....My prayers that any fear, all noises of negativity and all struggles will go away... thinking and praying for you.
