PRAYER

This post was written for Five Minute Friday
Word prompt--PRAYER
Five minutes to free write about it
---------------------------------

Several years ago I took Mark Batterson's Draw the Circle 40 day prayer challenge. For a while now there's been a stirring in my heart to do it again.

This week's FMF prompt gave me the nudge I needed, and today's devotional in my Streams in the Desert book clinched it.

I've texted the original group of ladies who did the challenge with me to see if any of them want to join me again this time around, but even if no one responds, I'm all in.

  1. It's good to pray in agreement with others, Sandra, I hope it works out with your friends.

  2. I have not heard of this, maybe you can expound a bit more in your next post?

  3. I cannot do forty days
of prayer, and you wonder why?
    It's just something to amaze
that anyone can count that high.
Got ten toes to call my own,
    and fingers, give or take,
got ten digits on the phone,
350's high as I will bake,
so forty's sure out of my league
('less I borrow hands and feet)
and thinking 'bout it brings fatigue
to make me hide beneath the sheets
'till maybe middle of next summer
when no one's caring all 'bout numbers.

  4. I pray daily, morning and night...what I will do is meditate and read the scriptures, that is something I need to work on. This troubled world sure does need some prayer...thanks for the gentle nudge.

  8. I'm with Ginny. Your circle sounds intriguing. Daily prayer and reading the Bible through each year gives me hope, comfort and joy as well as uncomfortable nudges on attitudes and actions I need to change.
