Word prompt--BEHIND
Five minutes to free-write about it
-------------------------------------------------------
This week's prompt has me thinking of my to-do list that keeps growing, and the many things I'm behind in. It's time to acknowledge that there's no way I'll ever be able to get to it all, and some prioritizing is in order. Like back in the day when I used a planner. Everything that needed to get done had a time slot, and the time slots got filled in in order of priority.
One thing that I'm way behind in is reading blogs I follow. Some of my friends post so often, if I read all of their posts, I would never get to the ones who don't. And yet I would like to read them all. It's hard to have to pick and choose . Sometimes the posts of those who write less frequently get lost in my blog reader feed and I don't even see them, because their posts get pushed so far down the list by the frequent posters.
That's what happens to my posts too, I think. Since I rarely post more than once or so a week, my posts get pushed way down the list as well, causing them to be missed by several of my regular blog friends.
Every now and then though, I am surprised by someone who hasn't visited in a long while not just leaving a comment on a post, but even on an older one. It is always a pleasant reminder that God is in control. If there is something He wants someone to see, He will find a way to bring it to their attention, and no algorithm or anything else will be able to prevent it from happening.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I only post on Mondays and Thursdays and some post every day. I always ♥️ enjoy your posts and God is definitely in control. God bless you and thank 😊 🙏 you for your posts.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs on Feedly and it shows whenever a blog I follow has a new posts. I try to look at it a few times a day to stay caught up.
ReplyDeleteI like what you said God bringing things to peoples attention if He want's them to see something.
Yes, some people use Feedly to follow blogs, some use Bloglovin'. They are both free to use, this may be useful to you. Like Mari, I look a few times a day so I am caught up.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting take on blog commenting!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had fallen behind
ReplyDeleteand skipped the blog I wrote this week.
Yes, it was on my heart and mind,
but not, I think, what others seek.
Writing is communication,
not a self-indulgent spiel;
to my regret and consternation
I failed to keep my mission real,
and I let down the readers who
look to me for other things.
I really didn't think it through,
and we'll see what the future brings.
I hope my audience will stay,
but it's their choice, to walk away.
Oh, I know what you mean - I usually feel like I'm behind in reading and commenting on other posts. It's often a day or two later - sometimes more! - before I have time to read posts in link-ups like FMF, but I do my best! I love what you said about God being able to bring the right posts to a reader's attention when they need that encouragement or challenge and he can use it all in his time. That's such a wise way of viewing it. Visiting from FMF#7
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this very much Sandra. I am one who blogs every day but I assure my blogging friends that I don’t expect anyone to comment all the time. I enjoy each one be it an every day occurrence, or infrequently. I realize we have so many blogging friends out there, it is nigh on impossible to keep up with all. And I am so glad you and I are blogging friends and visit when we can.
ReplyDeleteI think that happens to a lot of blogs. The list is always scrolling. I have a few I checked frequently. Yours is one of them.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about how I've gotten so far behind on blog visiting. Sometimes it's a few days and over the summer, a few weeks. I want that to change and I'm on it for September. It will take a little work, but hope to be around more often. Happy September!
ReplyDeleteHi, oh this is so good. You are right, we can get behind on reading blogs. But we find each other in the end. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy September!!
Carla
Hi Sandra, the same happens to me. Some bloggers write posts every day and I miss several of them, as I don't always have time to look at my computer. God bless.
Like you, it is hard for me to read all the post of my dear friends. I get behind and sometimes barely make it posting on my blog. I usually post each day because it's my way of keeping up with all the memories that happen in my life and the lives of my family each day. I have my blog printed and made into books that I hope someday my kiddos will read and enjoy. Wishing you a wonderful day and a wonderful September month..
ReplyDeleteThis is a great reminder that He is in control. I am well behind on reading blog posts and that is annoying. I always love your posts, Sandra. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great writing prompt. You've done a great job and I think I will try to write an essay with the word "behind," also.
ReplyDeleteI have become very inconsistent with my posting and visiting. Then, on a day, such as today, I drop everything and take a virtual walkabout and drop in. Hello and how are you always opens the door. 🥰
ReplyDeleteSandra, look how many comments you have on this post! :) I read your posts because you're on my "blogging friends" list. So you're not getting lost in my stack. I'll always be back to check on you :)
