ANYMORE

This post was written for Five Minute Friday
Word prompt--ANYMORE
Five minutes to free-write about it
-------------------------------------------------------

At first, when I saw this week's prompt, all I could think of were the many people and things that are not in my life anymore, and the many things I cannot do anymore. I even lamented that the beautiful little plant in the picture does not flower anymore. It hasn't in several years--not even when I put it out on the balcony in the summer.

But then, when I searched my mind for something positive I could associate with the word, two things surfaced. This morning I was surprised by a text from someone who had been an important part of my life and who I wasn't expecting to hear from anymore, and even better than that, and the greatest positive anymore possible, was the thought that "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1, NIV. What can be better than that?

  1. Good word. I often think of people that I’ve lost and get sad that they’re not here anymore. I can definitely relate to that. God bless❤️ G

  2. Yes! I'm at a season in life where there are a lot of "not anymores" - but Jesus is my "evermore"!

  3. I have lost several people from my life in the last few months, but have also reconnected with others. Thank you for this reminder to enjoy each other, whatever our faults!

  4. That's a kalanchoe plant, they have to be tricked to start blooming again. They need about a month and a half of 14 hours darkness per day with minimal water, which startles them into deciding to produce blooms again. They're the jerks of the plant world.

  8. We meet so many people in our lives, ones who drift in and out, ones who stay and ones we lose through illness. How lovely that your old friend got in touch with you. A true blessing indeed.

  9. Loss can be hard, but surprises—like hearing from someone again—bring joy. And the best “anymore” of all? The freedom and grace in Christ.
    Love this reflection, Sandra. 🙏

  13. Some days I say I will not write
    these darn poems anymore.
In my brain I've gotta fight
to rhyme and to make sure
that the words still mean what I
    had wanted them to say,
    but oftentimes the meanings fly
    far, far, far away,
and I am left with gibberish
    or a silly scrawl,
    imagining that readers wish
that I might leave this gala ball
and fade into night's moonless black,
but I'm over it, and hey! I'm back!
