HOW DO THEY DO IT?

It's been a long time since I posted on this blog, or have even had a chance to read many of the blogs on my Google Reader. Some people have actually published 20 or 30 posts since that time. How do you do it? I'm amazed.

Now I know we are all allotted the same 24 hours a day, but at the end of mine I don't seem to have accomplished a whole lot. Instead, I feel overwhelmed by all I still have to do and haven't gotten done. What is my problem?

The other day I was at my GYN for a routine visit and she was asking me what I did in the way of exercise. So then I asked her what she did, and she rattled off going to the gym, hiking, playing tennis, biking. And here's a woman who not only spends a full week seeing patients and doing surgery, but who also has a husband and kids to go home to, and an active social life, and I've even bumped into her doing her shopping at Costco. Plus I'm sure she must attend seminars and such to keep updated on all the latest techniques, and who knows what all else. How does she do it?

And take my daughter and friends, some of them single moms, who so adeptly juggle work, homeschooling, serving on committees, preparing meals for the family, chauffeuring the kids to various activities, babysitting grandkids, hosting sleepovers, and still find time to blog, exercise, play games on Facebook, Twitter, read books, go to the movies, and a whole lot more. It exhausts me just to think of the schedules they keep.

So now I have a new goal. After publishing this post and getting caught up on my blog reading, I'm going to look for the notes from the time management seminar I took several years ago, dust it off, and give my planner one last shot. Maybe I'll get it right this time and be able to squeeze a whole lot more into my days too.

  2. Oh, I need to do some time management as well! I never seem to have enough hours in the day. I can't keep up with my twitter, or facebook or even blog reading like I used to be able to. I do write every day but I have to get up at 5 am to do that! I wish they'd invent a few more hours in each day or at least invent something that could help us to manage our time better and get all the things done that we want to get done!

  3. Time management, what is that? With four children, 1 a special needs child, and three still in school very much involved with sports, what is time management LOL. When you figure out a way to manage your time, let me know. I know at the end of the day I am simply ready for bed LOL. But, I would not trade these days for nothing. They are a blessing and I know that one day I will be able to manage my time. The children will be grown and I will go through the empty nest syndrome. That day I am not looking forward to so I will enjoy each day that the Lord through His grace and mercy allows me to see.

    Great post my friend!
